Awkward
How amusing are buzzwords.
Lately I've been saying 'classic' a lot, I think I inherited it from a mate.
But one that's been doing the rounds with my youth is the word 'awkward' (first syllable is said falsetto). It's quite amusing, and I must admit, I have used it every now and then. One of the interesting things though is that it is often used when things aren't awkward.
It has replaced what people really feel, so instead of expressing themselves when uncomfortable, they say awkward, so it wont be awkward. Ironic.
On the topic of buzzwords, Awesome has totally lost its meaning. Everything is awesome these days.
Can you think of any other over used buzzwords?

City back to normal

As a Manchester City fan, life always has its ups and downs. At the start of the season it seemed as if things were turning around for a large up and that trajectory was going to continue into the clouds. With Sven at the helm backed by millions, what else could you ask for.
And the dream was on, the start of the season saw city sitting in the top 4 until Christmas. Since then city have hit troubled waters, with less wins than the Rabittoh's (Well actually maybe one or two more). But we did do the double over ManUre for the first time in 38 years and the squad was building nicely. The turn in form can be partially due to suspensions, injuries and the down turn of form from one or two players.
But the news has been that Shinwatra (Club owner) wants to get rid of Eriksson who has guided city to their best points haul in the Premier League, secured a top 10 spot (which was the goal of the season) and has a young team growing in confidence and ability.
This situation is an absolute joke and make city yet again a laughing stock.
But am I surprised. NO!
This is what it is to be a City fan. Awesome one day, terrible the next. At least we won some silverware (FA Youth Cup, and possibly the National Academy League) this year, which is more than Arsenal and Liverpool can claim.
I would not be surprised to see City loose a whole heap of our talent (Elano, Petrov, Dunne, Richards, Johnson, Corluka)

Who is the leader?
Just read an interesting article about youth today and their dislike of top-down authority and leadership structures and a preference for peer-peer leadership (which honestly I believe isn't leadership).
A few questions to pose:
- Who has the final say in the decision making process in peer-peer?
- Who is responsible for mistakes? (i.e. where does the buck stop)
- From the view of Christian leadership, how does this affect the way youth look to their leaders?
- What will it mean for a new leader to lead the kids they are responsible for if they have this idea of leadership?
- Will this emphasise the idea of Jesus as best buddy and reduce Jesus as Lord?

Premiership Prediction Procrastination
Photo:PremierleagueThought I would appease my love of Football by throwing out some predictions.
It has been an exciting year in the English Premier League with what was looking to be an exciting finish for the title. But recent results 3-0 and 2-1 have left me with a sour taste of ManUre in my mouth. As much as it pains me to say it. I am fairly confident that Man Utd will win the Premiership this season despite having to go to the Bridge.
Regarding relegation, Derby have been gone for a long time. I am also of the view that Fulham are gone too, 4 points (effectively 5 with goal diff)is a lot to catch up at the bottom. Boro are now safe, as will Newcastle, after a Viduka goal earning Keegans first win since returning (would have liked to have seen them drop because the board and fans are a bunch of idiots for not staying with Big Sam). The final relegation spot is hard to pick, its a race between Wigan (31), Reading (31), Sunderland (30), Birmingham (27) and Bolton (26). Bolton have the guts to push hard, but I can't see where the goals will come from. Birmingham under McLeish seems to have the determination too. Its a hard call and I wont bore you with more analysis, so my vote lies with Bolton becoming the third team to be relegated at the end of the season.
As for my 'dearly beloved' (Driscoll has funny gripe about that kind of language) Man City, the New year has been depressing, from 4th to 9th currently, with only 2 League wins (The glory of the double against Utd and win last week v Spurs) Europe has been falling from our grasp. But only one point covers 6-9 so anything could happen. My optimistic final points tally for city is 60, and them mostly likely coming 6th, but could be more like 55 and coming 8th or 9th. But I will say 6th because that is where my heart lies.
You are all most likely bored and don't care and therefore will not have read this sentence but I'm cool with that. If only I could write book reviews as quick as this blog.

City Up + Surfing
I don't care how many rules for blogging I'm about to break, I'm just excited and feel like posting today, maybe its because I am really tired even after being hopped up on red bull or because of that tiredness, there is no possible way reading my book for doctrine review is going to happen and be profitable.
Today was great, I enjoyed a fun surf with some mates from college, the surf was bigger than the lake I was expecting, and for once I was glad that I was at Maroubra which seemed to be making the most of a small swell.
I was then treated to good news upon my return when I discovered that City had defeated Snotspurs 2-1, a result that ended a streak of 3 games without a win and rebooted the fight for a spot in Europe. Its also broken the bad form against the spurs with the first win since April 2003.
I reference to my tiredness again, it seems that surf + lunch = sleep. Oh well hopefully tonight will be productive after football training, bring on the fitness!
